Visited the Berry Hill area the other day--checked out the graveyard covered with snow and lots of deer tracks. Just a creepy place. Bridge is interesting, very narrow and covered with graffiti. Believe we saw the house with blue shutters, but we didn't investigate, nor did we get a chance to check the ruins as they appear to be under constant observation by the folks who live next door. A lonely area for sure--I can see why it has been the subject of paranormal stories.
A message for the Holidays... « Result #2 on Dec 21, 2009, 3:19pm »
At this special time of the year, I'd like to express gratitude for the friends I have, and for the blessings I have received. In these dark times, it is easy to forget what the true reason for the season is, and that it's supposed to be a magical time of peace, joy, and wonder. I am suffering from heavy pain in my shoulder that sometimes freezes me in place. I have also suffered from an inflamed prostate. And to top it all off, I'm mostly laid off at work, working only a day or two a week, and thus, unable to pay bills, let alone have much of a material Christmas. Ah, but MATERIAL things aren't what it's all about, right? I do have much to be thankful for. I have my parents, going strong in their seventies, and in basically good health. I have myriad uncles, aunts, and cousins, my beloved Sis and her family, and many good friends. Plus thousands of netfriends and well-wishers. So, to all my friends, neighbors, and fellow ghost hunters out there, I say MERRY CHRISTMAS and PEACE unto you!!! And even to those who are NOT my friends, Merry Christmas and peace be unto you as well!

This snow we just had is very similar to how it played out in 1929. Wouldn't it be interesting if we had a white Christmas just like that on the 80th Anniversary of the slayings?

Thanks. Been busy with my photography and stuff. Also suffering debilitating pain in my shoulder from a combination of Bursitis and arthritis, plus prostate problems. Getting better, but still not 100% Stings being mostly laid off at work too... But things will normalize soon, I hope. We a new group ourselves. The site link is either in the big Payne Rd. thread, or in the 80 year... thread. Can't remember off the top of my head. It's under construction, so bear with us. Merry Christmas!

The mountains and fooothills are rich in just that. You just have to find it. Should be easy, though. There are DOZENS of books by Nancy Roberts, John Hardin, Frances Casstevens, me, etc...

Would any of you happen to know of a knowledgeable site for Western NC history in regards to ghosts, possesion, etc...? If so, such enlightenment would be much appreciated. Take care. -Matt

No, those are WAY up the road towards Rural Hall. The familes who lived there moved. I haven't found ANYTHING about these two houses at all, but the signs indicate that someone at least THINKS they have bound something not so nice up in there. A word of caution. IF, and I DO mean IF there is something bound in there, I would NOT want to be the one to mess with the precautions taken, and free it... I believe there are still outbuildings, the foundation of the house, and the foundation of the barn which was blown up...

Nice map. What do you think of the abandoned house with the cross painted on it? Are there buildings where the old Edwards house was? Things look different now than they used to.
