Richfield RD, NC... went there last night, and a ghost pushes you UP a hill, we did it, and it worked... its not too far from you guys, i think you should go there and test it out and see if it really is a ghost, we did put baby powder on the back of the car, and little fingerprints were back there...

We went to a gravity hill in NC a couple of years ago. It was on High Rock road, near Reed's Gold Mine. We covered the car with flour and observed no finger prints or anything out of the ordinary. We wanted to go back with a carpenter's level to see if it was really a hill, but never got around to returning. If this gravity hill is truly spiritual, we could definitely have a hunt there.

Sadder still to watch it die : than never to have known it : for you, the blind who once could see : the bell tolls for thee... |

first time post... The Gravity Hill in southmont or healing springs is a local legend here. Alot of kids go down there and spray paint the road and goof off, and I have been there many times since I only live about 15mins away but two nights in particular stand out... One night me and about 7 other people took two cars down there to scare a couple friends that had never been. Well as we're going down the rd like your supposed to in neutral my car got a lil faster than my friends car in front of us so I tapped the brakes which your not supposed to do according to "legend", as soon as I tapped the brakes my friend in front of me threw it in drive and took off... I finally caught up to him at the end of the rd and asked him what the hell was going on. He said that not long after he started rolling his windshield cracked all the way across, it happened to be the same time I hit the brakes... I don't know what happened but its was definately weird. The next night something happened that was out of the ordinary was a couple years later we were down there scareing friends again when me and a friend of mine decided to sit on the back of the car and see if we "felt" anything. well we continued up the rd and nothing happened that was unusual we rolled but didn't feel anything. As soon as we stopped to get back in the car we saw headlights behind us so we quickly took off. The truck behind us never slowed down he came flying up on us and the truck looked like the exact same truck from jeepers creepers, he had one headlight and would constantly get on our rear and then back off a little bit we were going about 80mph down that rd and he never stopped he followed us onto the next rd but finally turned as we kept going. It was really creepy but it could have been one of the many rednecks that live down in that area just messing with us. Its a creepy experience the first time you do it but with all the graffitti on the rd its just not the same...

I am her boyfriend and can testify to the event. Even though I am a firm believer in the paranormal from personal reasons, I do not (with the expection of this one time) do I believe anything werid happens here. Its an optical illusion it actually goes down hill and the fingerprints I have seen but it is from your greasey fingers closing the trunk/hatch and the powder/flour sticking to it.
But then again when we were rolling we got real close to brads truck and I told her to hit the brakes and almost at the same time he fired his truck up and was gone. Doing like 80 all the way down the rd and not stopping until the end where the church is.

Here is a video of another gravity hill. I don't know if that looks like an optical allusion, that guy was going up hill.

FAKE!
don't try this stupid shit. we just got back from Richfield rd in greensboro and it didn't work at all.
the road is right behind a movie theater and its not even scary looking. we tried everything, there was no one moving us uphill, but we got a bunch of baby powder all over our car! sweet!
waste of time!!

this is unfortunately another case of mistaken location becoming a local urban legend. The original legend and location is in Texas. this legend involves a supposed Bus of kids that were killed when their bus stalled on the tracks that you seemingly you have go up hill to cross. the kids supposely push your vehicle across the track to safety if you stop just before the tracks. this legend was scientifically disproven. there is no record of such collision involving a train and a bus. the fiingerprints are your own.proven by on the scene fingerprint experts who pulled the prints from a group of supposedly clean cars after they did the flour/powder trick. a survey team found the grade to be a long down hill grade with a raised road that gives the illusion of on uphill grade. it is an adopted legend due to the fact that we have few locations in this area where the raised road gives you the same optical illusion. another location was the ramp from hwy 135 to north bound 220 near Mayodan, NC. Once the Walmart was put in right beside of the road you lost the illusion of a downhill grade so now you don't see cars lined up to put their cars in neutral and supposedly back uphill in defiance of gravity. North Carolina has some actual legends and places that are the real and original locations ie...brown mtn, lydia's bridge, maco light, and devil's tramping ground and others which if you search around the net and other boards and such you will find these legends and locations adopted by almost every state. When alot of people gather and frequent these places something strange is bound to happen and when people share their stories with others they find the common denominator is the location. I am not taking anything away from your individual experiences because they really happened however the location itself has no documeneted evidences of hauntings or real paranormal activity. yes thereare people who get off by hanging around such areas and chasing people away and/or just screwing with curious people out looking for a thrill. next time don't speed away and see what if anything happens when a truck chases you. look and listen for people in the woods who may throwing rocks and the more sophisticated ones use slingshots and ball bearings at your cars. You don't know where they are but they know where you are and they get their kicks by messing with you. it is very common around these "legendary" type places.

I live about 20 minutes from the one off of Richfield Rd in Rowan County. Did it a couple of times, and it scares you a few times, and then after that... it doesn't bother you anymore.

MOST of these "gravity Hill" places provide a stunning optical illusion, based on the grade of things nearby. A COUPLE, though, really do seem to take you uphill.

I agree with micheal ,there are far too many to be really outstanding as far as paranormal. Most are optical illusions but hey, who knows?
