One thing that might hopefully end the misinformation about the last house on the left being "Red Room" is that, as of the last time I was down there a couple months ago, that house has been burned down. All that's left that I could see (during daytime) was part of the chimney and of course the barn(s) still on the property. I'd been down there around Halloween (just before this house was burned) at night and the last house on the right that sat back off the road a bit was burning. It looked like a controlled burn. The fire department was on hand and had spotlights set up from different angles around the property, and I passed several fire trucks leaving the scene on my way on 601 and on Point Rd (at the time, I thought with it being close to Halloween, some kids had set the last house on the left on fire, fooling around there thinking it was Red Room before I got to the end of the road and saw it was the last house on the right). I'm guessing the last house on the left was a controlled burn too, but who knows? Maybe some kids did accidentally or intentionally burn it down- it's happened with plenty of old houses that are popular hot spots for being allegedly haunted (and since this house was incorrectly believed to be Red Room by many, it falls into that category). Either way, that house is gone now too, burned to the ground just like the real Red Room. Will this make the myths of the Red Room house still standing go away or further add to the confusion? Since both houses were burned, and with so many believing the house at the end of the road was Red Room, I could see the possibility for half-truths to cause further confusion and people visiting the burned out ruins of this house thinking they're on the spot where the Red Room once stood... or maybe there will be another house on Point Road attributed to being Red Room as time goes by.

Well for what it's worth, me and a few friends have started cycling on that road at night because there is virtually no traffic. Someone has decorated the church for xmas so it has some very dim candle lights flickering in the windows. Not sure if they were going for a creepy haunted vibe but if they were #nailedit

A friend who lives in the area told me that the pastor of the church lived at the "red room" house with his wife and daughter. One night the pastor snapped and killed his wife and daughter and then went to the church where I think he killed himself, it's been a while since I heard the story so I don't remember. So apparently the rooms that glow red in the "red room" house are the rooms where he killed his wife and daughter. This story doesn't align with any of the other explanations posted, so it's probably not true, but I thought i'd post it anyway.

While I don't believe that one's true either, it does make for a more interesting story. While many of the Red Room claims involving the husband/father murdering his entire family, which seems to be based on the Lawson murders from another location, in this story, the part about the preacher going to the church to commit suicide reminds me of a "legend" of another church. I can't remember the church in question- it wasn't Cherry Hill Lutheran (the Red Room church), and it's not one of the churches I've actually been to/investigated. I believe it's the church whose legend claims if you go in at a certain time, you'll find an open Bible on the pulpit and it will tell you when/how you'll die (obviously, a bit far fetched, but an interesting tale, at any rate). I believe the story with that church was the preacher committed suicide in the church by hanging himself from a rafter. Supposedly, you can still see the scrapes from his hard-soled shoes on the front pew (again, according to the "legend" of that particular church- it's not the story behind Red Room/the Red Room church). I'm always interested in hearing new stories about the area around Red Room (Cherry Hill Lutheran Church in particular). From doing investigations at Cherry Hill years ago, long before it was restored, I honestly believe it's haunted, despite lack of evidence compared to some of other investigations I've been on. I usually demand physical evidence on an investigation and don't put much stock in "feelings", but there's something about that church that gives me the same eerie feeling every time I go there (or used to go there). It's one place I never got tired of investigating, despite getting better evidence at some other locations.

Teenagers made up the stories about that house. And they painted the one room red...

I've talked to people who painted the room scarlet when they were teenagers, and who admitted to orchestrating those stories about the house. Also talked to people associated with the old church. The coffin is creepy, but not exactly abnormal... I'm more interested in the pet cemetery...

Somewhere in Happy Valley, off Hwy 268 in Wilkes or Caldwell County; Close to where the Tom Dula legend played out... The minister supposedly discovered his wife was pregnant from an affair, and committed suicide by hanging himself from rafter beans...

I'm black, and grew up in the black community near Cherry Hill Road. As a child riding bikes, yes truly eerie place. Also knew about the pet cemetery. Neighbors still have meetings there. Google Davie County Enterprise, news, and you can read about it. We were told when I was younger not to go near there because there were a lot of klansmen, and they held meetings there. Was told a lot of lynchings took place in the area. Please let me know what you find. Thanks

I went there about 20 years ago and from what I understood that lil church was used to do witchcraft and had been used to do animal sacrifices. Supposedly the deal with the “red room” was that some man had killed his family I think in this one room upstairs and you pull up and flash your headlights and it would glow red. And idk if it’s true or not but it’s supposedly a pet cemetery.
