Hello everyone! Me and my friends (Joanna and Ryan) have been going to Lydia's bridge lately and have recorded some EVPs and MANY orbs. Would anybody be interested in going out this weekend possibly or some pre-determined time with us? What we do is park at the apartments a little down the street and then walk to the bridge (a short walk). Feel free to Email me at Mattsdrum7@yahoo.com if interested. Take care! -Matt

Just a word of caution. EMF meters are USELESS out there. Also, reports that an individual fitting the profile to be this young lady being found, are extremely exaggerated. The Lydia Jane McCarthy in question was either 61 or 76 when she died of a heart attack on 12-31-1923. Her death certificate is irrefutable, so any stories that she is Lydia can be safely ignored. The fact is, try as we might, there is ABSOLUTELY NO evidence to suggest that this Lydia story is anything other than an urban legend. I have elderly people who do remember a fatal accident at the old underpass in roughly that time period, but they did NOT remember the young woman's name. Some felt it was NOT Lydia, though. Sources also say that the girl who died lived on either Forest or Woodrow in High Point. If someone can give me a concrete physical address to check out, and show me an OFFICIAL document supporting this story, I will send an official investigation team. Until real evidence surfaces, I consider Lydia a myth. Sorry, but that's just how it is. It has been researched extensively over the years, and every piece of concrete evidence supports this conclusion. As for paranormal happenings out there, I'm not surprised. All that electrical energy from the nearby power grid, can cause weird effects (ie, the uselessness of the EMF meter). As for cold spots in the tunnel, well, it is an overgrown orifice now, and would be much colder than the area around it anyway. Cameras can be affected as well. And for those of you whom Science can't convince, here is a spiritual cassus belle too. So many people have visited out there over the decades, it's possible that a paranormal entity has been drawn to the spot, or even created by all the energy those who believe leave there. If you don't think it's possible, there IS precedence for just that. Ask any of the well known paranormal researchers about the "Philip" case. All this said, I still can't COMPLETELY rule out the existence of a real Lydia. Like I said, with a concrete address, I can check out the past owners and families. But, barring that, or the revelation of an as yet undiscovered death certificate, I AM leaning in that direction. To those who believe, I challenge you. Send me REAL evidence, not odd paranormal activity (my opinion of orbs is well known), but evidence of a REAL GIRL, who died at the old underpass. Give me an address to check out. Come on! After all these decades, and people claiming to have driven her there, NO ONE remembers the frickin' address?! I'm just not buying that. Give me a death certificate... a REAL one..., not just stories. MAKE me believe again!

I do believe there is something there whether it is Lydia or not. A friend of mine knows of a guy who used to be homeless and lived in the bridge & claimed that many homeless folks actually overdosed and died on drugs in the "old" bridge (which is where we investigated). It is my opinion that the entities that "might" be there could be from other people. One place to check out (for any of you who live near downtown Greensboro or Battleground Ave. is "Kirk rd.". There is a drained lake down there and a forest which you can walk around in. These woods were "supposedly" site of at lest one murder (possibly by hanging). When I visited this area, I heard a metal gate closing, women screaming, and baby crying within about 2 or 3 seconds. I had 3 other witnesses who were out there with us. Very odd to say the least, whether anything really exists in the area. It is worth checking out if you have some equipment. Does anyone have any haunting sites near Jamestown or greensboro NC? I am likely going to check some things out sunday night. Thanks much! -Matt H

Just noticed that Shadowlands also has the FALSE story f a death record for a girl dying ot there. Te story of a death certificate for a Lydia Jane M_____, born 1904, died December 3, 1923, is FALSE! I have a copy of the death certificate for the ONLY Lydia who died in NORTH CAROLINA that date. Her name was Lydia Jane McCarthy, and she DID die December 3, 1923., But that is where the truth ENDS. Mrs McCarthy was born in 1847, NOT 1904! AND she was 76, NOT 19. Also, the CoD does NOT say anything abot a "motoring accident." Her CoD is PLAINLY listed as HEART FAILURE! This record s readily available to anyoe who s willing to look it up. The certificte they quote either doesn't exist, or is a FAKE!
