This morning I got to tour Reynolda House, practically by myself. I lingered in RJR's Study, where he passed away, and spent a little time on the second floor sleeping porch where Z. Smith Reynolds was fatally shot July 5-6, 1932. I got absolutely no sense of a presence in either location. It is actually a pretty peaceful place. Was a little surprised, because I had heard rumors of things actually happening there from former employees of the Reynolds and Babcock Families, as well as past museum workers. You would think there would at least be a residual from Smith Reynolds' death, especially since he died under such mysterious and questionable circumstances. But, this day, zippo! I DID get a little weirded out in the basement, especially in the bar and bowling alley areas. Kept hearing sounds like someone was down there with me, but I was completely alone down there. Still, couldn't say it was anything paranormal. Just because I didn't get anything doesn't mean there isn't anything though. Some hunters go to a place dozens of times and never pick up on anything (this is why it is a mistake to declare a place unhaunted ot uninteresting just because YOU never experienced anything). Others can go to the same place as someone else and get something right away. Even if the house itself WERE to prove to be not haunted, I know for a fact that the grounds of the estate are indeed. There is a Lady in White ( several people have told me they saw a woman, sometimes in white, sometimes in dark clothing), There are persistent rumors of someone having drowned in one of the ponds in the woods, and a former Reynolda employee's grandson told me his grandpa told of a black man whose body was dumped in the pond, and remained there for an extended period before finally being removed. Some of you know of other things that have been recorded there. Some things will be revealed in the Triad book...

Just spoke to the personal assistant of one of the Reynolds grandchildren today, and she told me something I DIDN'T know... Apparently, there are stories about the old cabin in Reynolda Gardens being haunted! Don't know if the Gardens employees would know or admit it, but this comes from someone in a position to know since she works for a third generation Reynolds! Would be interested to find something about it...

Hi, I was curious as to how you spent time on the sleeping porch where Smith Reynolds was shot. That bedroom and the sleeping porch was converted into the musuem directors office in 1964 intentionally to keep curiosity seekers out. A joint decision made by Charles Babcock and Mary Reynolds Babcock. That information was given to me by the late Betsy Babcock, Charles and Mary's daughter who grew up there.

The sleeping [porch is now a conference room along with the master bedroom. The ladies at the front desk of the entrance said this was the sleeping porch, which is on the side of the house facing easterly. Unless there has been misdirection concerning exactly which sleeping porch is the one (there are several), the one I was in is it. It has a sign above the door which indicates the bedroom was the master bedroom. Not one person who has directed me towards the appropriate sleeping porch has ever indicated any other than the one at the end of the house nearest the museum entrance and the indoor pool. The master bedroom is shown as immediately above RJ's study, and this is the sleeping porch I was on, and which everyone says is the one. I remember reading in Patrick Reynolds' book that the death room was now the director's office as well, and was surprised to have them tell me it was a conference room. The only thing I can think is either the director's office has been moved sometime in the past 48 yeaqrs, or everyone who has mentioned where Smith was shot has been lying... And I just don't think they were intentionally misleading me, so yes, I believe that is the place Smith was shot.

A completely new "wing" was added to Reynolda over the past couple of years as well, and I believe most of the offices were moved there, though not 100%sure. It's like a separate building from the house, but connected at the end of the house where the Babcocks' indoor pool, and the museum entrance is...

I interned at the Reynolda house in 2007. During that time another intern and I went to the basement to see the Nam June Paik piece they have in the pool room. Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs we heard someone running down after us. Because it was so early in the morning we assumed it was a concerned security person so I called up " it's just us we are interns" and after a second of pause we heard the person quickly run back up the stairs. We then immediately went back up where we found the security people walking around and asked them if they needed anything and if someone had come down after us. We were told that no one else had followed us down. We then went to ask the man in charge of video survellance and he confirmed that no one else was anywhere remotely near us. I also had some very uncomfortable experiences in both the attic specifically where the children's toys are displayed and in the conference room where the son commuted suicide (I was told that the suicide wasn't to be discussed) in the conference room I felt a heavy presence like someone was putting weight on me... I had this experience before I ever knew about the incident in the room. Another place to check out if they will allow you is the old staff kitchen which is located below the family kitchen... Some weird stuff going on there too

As an employee I must set some things straight. It is said Smith Reynolds was shot in the Master Bedroom, not the Sleeping porch. There are 4 sleeping porches I might add, not just one. And he didn't die at the house, he died in route to the hospital. There are also no facts backing up that estate is "actually haunted." Now, I do believe in the paranormal, but a few stories is not grounds to say that it truly is haunted.

No,Sir. It is VERY clear in the old reports and documents that Smith Reynolds was shot on the sleeping porch of the main bedroom. I don't give a DAMN if you're an employee. YOU cannot dispute legal documents. Yes, Reynolds died at Baptist, in the OR. Bui YOU cannot tell ME I didn't get the recordings we got, NOR cn you tell me we did not encounter what we encountered. THE GROUNDS ARE HAUNTED, THOUGH i'M NOT CONVINCED THAT THE MAIN HOUSE IS. It's NOT Smith Reynolds or his wife, but his MOTHER. She has been IDed by more than 1 person from photo line up as who they saw on the pathways. Not ALL employees or former employees will tow the "Party Line" on this. I have enough accounts from former employees of the Reynoldses, The Babcocks, AND the museum/gardens to tell me it is HAUNTED.

New Kids on the Block is my favourite pop-band of 90s. They had so many hit songs! The ones I remember are 'Tonight', 'Baby, I Believe In You' and their hit 'Step By Step'. These are real masterpieces, not garbage like today! And it is awesome they have a tour in 2019! So I'm going to attend New Kids on the Block concert in 2019. The concert dates is here: New Kids on the Block concerts. Check it out and maybe we can even visit one of the performances together!
