I was a RA for 1.5 years in East Hall. I absolutely loved this dorm. We had plenty of staff meeting in the basement. We always went down there together as a group and many times after using the restroom we would leave with a "scratch" mark on our arm. I personally have had 2 situations in my dorm in East during my time living there. The first time I was on the bottom floor closest to the English building very last room that did not have the personal bathroom. I did not have a roommate so I knew that no one was messing with me. I had a few coat hangers end up on the floor of my walk in closet. That's not normal of me so the first time I saw it I didn't think anything of it, picked them up and went along with my day. I came back from my class and yet again my coat hangers were on the floor. I mentioned it to one of my "emo" residents so she came into my room, spoke to my closet, and told whomever to please stop putting my hangers on the floor, and sure enough it never happened again!
The next school year I was exactly 2 flights up on the third floor with the private bathroom. Still without a roommate. Now I am legally blind, wear glasses and contacts. One night I woke up, stiff, and could clearly see a young woman in the corner of my room. I couldn't scream, reach for my glasses, or move at all. I finally was able to muster up a whisper to please leave me alone and immediately I was able to go back to sleep. This was the only 2 experiences I've had living there but overall I loved being in East Hall!

I still love old East, 22 years on. I was able to go back in, with my team, in 2011, I think it was. We have identified the male student who committed suicide in the corner room on 1st New in 1977. We have also identified what we believe to be te origin of the bathroom legend in the basement, though the girl in question died off campus, she lived in East. As for others, we know that there have been several drug related deaths, car wrecks, and such in East. There is also a possible murder, not to mention te story of "Mrs. Brown" that has emerged in recent years, of the lady who supposedly owned the land and didn't want East built. This story, however, seems to assume East was all built at oce when in truth, New Wing wasn't built til 9 years after Old and Main. Anyoe with an East story may contact me here, or at my direct email... tsarmike818@yahoo.com. You can also contact me thru Facebook at Camel City Spirit Seeker, and Haunted East Hall. East will figure in te new book Amy and I are working on...

I am a freshman this year, living in Bowie hall. I have a couple of good friends who live in East so I am there frequently. There have been a couple of strange incidents that have happened. At the beginning of this semester, one of my friends told me about how she had been taking a shower in the 3rd floor bathroom. When she got out to get her towel, she noticed two white handprints that seemed to smear down the towel which were not there before. She even showed me the towel. It was so creepy to look at. To stay on topic of the 3rd floor bathroom, when you walk in, to the right you'll see one of the doors always stays closed. TWO friends told me that they went into that stall and the stall doors to the right and left both slammed shut on their own.
I am really intrigued with the idea of hauntings and paranormal activity and have even went down to the basement on several occassions. The feeling down there is so uneasy and it was hard for me to stay down there for too long. The 3rd floor gives me weird vibes and I hate staying the night. I've woken up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and I feel like someone is following me down the hall and into the bathroom due to faint footsteps behind me. Honestly, I hope to experience a lot more vivid activity in the remainder of the year.

I just got my room assignment for the 2015-2016 school year, and I'll be staying in room 357 of East! I'll let you all know if I have any interesting ghost encounters.

Next Tuesday, Sept. 29th, is the 38th anniversary of the suicide of Dean Everett. He was a 17 year old freshman from Greensboro who shot himself in a corner room of 1st New Wing on Thursday, Sept. 29, 1977. His ghost remains to this day...
