There seems to be a lot of people who read this board from the Stokes/Forsyth County areas i will lead you to other areas in Stokes County that are quite active. The first one consists of three different spots on the same road. Bennet Road. You can find it easily on Google maps. The Road runs between Hwy 770 and Anglins Mill Road. In the Ayersville Area. The road is paved now but no less ominous still. i once knew the area quite well. i haven't back to the area but maybe once in the last 15 years. I have heard of new houses being built along the road so above all be courtious to the residents of the area. the first area i want to mention is close to the hwy 770 end of the road it is on Hawk Road. this road runs from Bennet Road to the Mayo River. The Active part of this road is in the first 1/2 mile. After rounding the first curve and heading up a small hill you will round another curve to the right and there on the left side you will see a small one room cabin. hopefully it still stands but if it doesn't it is no matter because the activity is not directly tied to the cabin but it gives you a focal point to center yourself when beginning your adventure. Here i have had two expierinces that were witnessed by two other people one of which is unfortunatley dead but he talked about the experience right up till the last couple weeks of his life. If you can stop safely in this area then do so. shut off your engine and get out and just hang out. the "strange stuff" will find you i assure you. i have heard other's experiences of this area and we have all had different experiences and with varying degrees. if you have a very brave soul or a skeptic with then leave that person there and Drive back to Bennet Road and have the person walk back alone. tell the person only this...only turn around if your heart can take it and do not stop no matter what you hear. this place is area contains a haunting or preseance that i cannot lock into a particular genre. the second location on this road is further up Bennet road at the intersection GoinsSchool Road. again if it is safe and unintrusive to do so, stop in this area. this area is directly related to the first area. this area again has a haunting or presance that can't be classified becasue the activity is sometimes playful, sometimes poltergiest type and sometimes very terrifiying. neither of these sites are residule hauntings though i can tell you that. the third location on the road is further toward Anglins Mill Road. From the Second spot you will continue north on Bennet road till you come down into a valley where there is a bridge. i know what you are thinking but do not stop on the bridge not only is it part of every bridge story but it is down right dangerous becasue there are curves on each end of the bridge. Safely stop your car in the area turn it off and get out. In this area i can tell you the haunting is residule. just use patience above all with all these areas. i will not tell you yet of the experiences i have had in these areas simply because of the power of suggestion and how it cause people to have a closed mind going in and only being expecting one or two things to happen. open your mind your eyes and your ears just use patience (i can't stress patience enough). after others have gone to the areas nad come back and post their experiences if i will give you the history of the area and the experiences i have had. i won't to see if anyone else experience anything similar to what i have with out first comparing notes. it strenghtens the validity of the experience. this is only the begining of the places of that i can direct you to. Be sober, safe and respectful.

Ok, I found the Ayersville area and 770, but I cannot find Bennet Road or Anglins Mill Road. What city can you enter in Google to find this? Mayodan or Stoneville? Thanks

continue north on hwy 8 like you were headed to Stuart VA. Turn Right onto 770 headed east towards Sandy Ridge. When you get Sandy Ridge turn Left on the road that runs in front of the school (sorry i don't know the name of the road). then go a mile or so and turn Right onto Anglins Mill Road i don't remember how far down Bennet Road is but turns off to the right before you cross the river. there are quicker ways to get there from Winston Salem but i don't want to make it a complicated trip.

Thank you for the directions!!! My husband is from Sandy Ridge so I don't think it will be a problem to find. We will be going out there one weekend to check out Beaver Creek Road - have you heard anything about this road? Particularly the old Col. James Hunter house (no longer standing)? My husband lived in that house for around 5 years - his grandparents much longer and he said some strange things went on there (he was too young-family members have told him things). There was also an article in the paper about the house one year saying that weird stuff happened there. We are trying to get his aunt to find her copy of the article that she kept.

yes i am familar with nearly every dirt road in Stokes County and Rockingham County. i remember the house you are talking about. there wasn't alot to do growing up in that area but hit the dirt roads and go off exploring. i personally haven't heard anything about the house and i don't remember anything strange that has happened to me on that road. i do remember that the number one suspect in Small Family murders(of Bassett Virginia) was living on that road in an old trailer before he took off and ran to Yellow Knife Canada where he was caught and arrested.

I just happen to think last night that you have to first turn off hwy 770 onto victory chapel road to get to bennet road.

since most of you are more curious hunters at best let me be a little direct in what you will find the areas i have listed in this post. the bridge location near the Anglins Mill end is a place where it is safe risidule type haunting. it is sounds that you will hear there the sounds of charging Indian warriors on horse back. back when i heard this for myself there were no digital recorders and the type of equipment available today. this is where you will have to be the most patient if you want to hear this for yourself. i intend to take digital recorder and leave it in the area when i find the time to get back in the area. this place is totally harmless as far as i know however the cabin area i mentioned on hawk road is clearly and unmistakenly demonic. i wanted to warn you ahead of time so you may not want to go down there until you have more experience behind you. but if you dare walk that road alone as i mentioned you will not be alone. i myself have done this and noticed that i cast to many shadows for one person meaning shadows crossed my shadows as i walked. i just walked delibertaely and purposely to end of the road without looking back. and take note of the cold spots i didn't know what causes cold spots back then and now i amazed that there were so many that iremember. my uncle had told me about walking down this road and turning around to see only what he described as red eyes following him. after he turned around he was summoned by a tone changing (1 second low and the next second high pitched) voice to stop and rest awhile because the voice had a proposal for my uncle. he needless to say didn't stop and didn't walk that road anymore. the part of the area that is connected to this area is the intersection i mentioned. at this intersection there was stood an old one room school house. In front of this school stood a old "shade tree". the school house was removed but the tree remained. it was at this tree that the guy who lived in the cabin on hawk road would come up regularly and sit and play his banjo for the devil. i was told this story from all of my relatives growing up. the man suppsoedly sold his soul to the devil to be able to play the banjo as well as he was known to play. the tree was removed the day after the old man died by the others who lived in the area. my experinces in this location involve very bright flashes of light from no source that i could find. its like someone is trying to frighten you away. now you know what to expect from this area. i wanted to hear of what someone else would experince in these area before i said anything so it backup some of my own experiences but it didn't seem right sending anyone into a possibly negative enviroment without warning.

Thanks for the warning. This sounds like a very active place to check out. I'd love to go see it for myself soon.

Will do! It's going to be a few weeks though. I'm leaving for the beach Weds. and won't be back for a week. Then next weekend I've got "God's Acre" on Sat. and the "Lawson family graveyard" on Sun. Maybe the 2nd weekend in Nov.? A few of us could meet up and hit a few local spots.
