Sorry for posting in a fairly old thread but i actually live within 10 miles of the church and i am constantly driving past it. Every year they have an event at the church...a homecoming of sorts, other than that the place stays abandoned. I never had actually paid any attention to the place until i convinced some friends to go to the red room two years ago. As soon as we turned on to point road I looked at the church on my left and saw something up in the steeple. blueish in tint and almost looking over the road. If anyone plans on checking the place out again please let me know. you can contact me via skype username:thatsexbread. When is the yearly event?

If anyone plans on checking the place out again please let me know. you can contact me via skype username:thatsexbread. When is the yearly event? I also live nearby (about 10-15 minutes away) and have quite a fascination with Cherry Hill Lutheran Church and the Point Rd. area. I can confirm what Matt said about a "homecoming" event at the church. I can't say, however, if it's at the same time every year, but it was sometime around July-September this year (I'm sorry I can't be any more specific than that). I remember seeing the sign for it out in front of the church, and they always seem to make sure to mow/clean the property up really well 2-3 weeks before the event, so if I see "clues" that it's about time for their homecoming again next year, I'll come back on here and let everyone know. A friend (who's also kind of the unofficial "tech guy" on my paranormal team) noticed the homecoming this year too, and we've been talking about possibly going next year just to check the place out and pay our respect for the church and its history. Speaking of showing the place respect, I think some punks broke into the church or at least tried to break in sometime recently. I usually try to get a good look at the church every time I drive by (just in case I happened to "catch" something), and, as anyone who's been there already knows, they keep the church windows shuttered up (I've never seen inside the church, but I was able to find a pic from a homecoming from about 1973 that shows the inside of the church). Anyway, recently, it appeared that the shutters were open on one of the windows at the back of the church, facing the cemetery. Some friends of mine just went there Sunday night, and they told me the church was shuttered up like always, so I'm guessing whoever the caretaker of the church is found it and fixed it. Like I said in a previous post on here back in March or April, SHOW THE PLACES YOU INVESTIGATE RESPECT! If you must trespass to do an investigation, at least leave the place as you found it. I know I'll never reach my "target audience" saying these things here, because the punks who do that kind of stuff probably won't ever come to this page, but I'm saying that just in case they do. I still remember Piney Grove Church in Concord that was vandalized for years and years to the point it had to be torn down, and I don't want to lose any other local historical landmarks over something so stupid and pointless as vandalism. Also, Michael, it's odd that you mentioned seeing something coming out/looking out of the steeple at the church. I'd never paid much attention to the steeple in my previous investigations, but a couple years ago, I was with two younger friends (one guy who knows what he's doing as far as paranormal investigation and the other who was just looking for a thrill) who told a tale about the church that a little girl died by falling out of the steeple (likely 100% myth), so when we went that night, they were paying particular attention to the steeple. I didn't believe their story, but, as they say, "when in Rome...". However, we DID see what appeared to be eyes looking out of the steeple at us, and they did move. Of course, it could have been an animal or anything, but the eyes did seem larger than that of an animal the size of which would be inside the steeple. Unfortunately, it has to just be taken at face value, because the guy who was just there looking for a thrill had had enough, and started freaking out and begging us to leave as soon as we saw the eyes, so we had to leave shortly thereafter without being able to do further investigation and debunking.

sorry for some reason it wouldn't let me post the rest of the stuff so here is some history on the church and graveyard: Church & Cemetery established 1874, last used in 1999 the address is 101 point rd Mocksville NC 27028 Notes we Took: Looks creepy, strange smell around church, cold spots in cemetery around the welcome to the Cemetery sign. The spirits seemed shy because they would never come close to us. Some sighting info: Seen shadows moving all around us when in the graveyard 1. sound of creek flowing in left side of the graveyard near fence 2. Sounds of someone cracking branches in the woods numerous times 3. sounds of someone walking through the grass always right behind us 4. rocks being thrown and hitting the ground and backside of the church 5. Sounds of people walking on the gravel up at the church when we were in the graveyard Smells and odors: Old musty smell around church and cemetery Temperature Anomalies: numerous cold spots by the back of the church and in the cemetery Emf Anomalies: 1.fluctuation of 3.4 near rear bumper of van tried to trace it but couldn't,t find the source 2. Near rear of church fluctuation of 3.2 Conclusion: My team and i find this to be a highly active place and this would be and excellent place to go if you were training people. if i had to call this place Haunted or Not Haunted i would say that this place is defiantly haunted

Penny? I'm not sure your reply posted exactly as you intended. As always, I'm interested to hear any new (new to me, at least) information on Cherry Hill Lutheran Church, Point Rd., or the surrounding area.
cbozwell, I realize this is a year after your initial request, but if you're still interested in help with your investigation, please respond here with your E-mail address. I haven't done a paranormal investigation in several years now, but I could probably get a few members of my old team back together to help if you would like.

I've been inside. Was over 20 yrs ago. Strange things happened to us every time we went. Car cutting off. Smelling a very musty spoiled. The church was boarded up with plywood then. The house I can tell you some of the layout to it but only made it in so far before things just got kinda earrry. As u walk in front door a room to the right had a big whole in it. Below was a cellar. Also had a pintagram on the wall. White walls well dirty. But when we shinned headlights on it they glowed red. Keep straight was a set of stairs that led up and off in the kitchen I thing was the door to attack. We made it half way down before something blowed really hard on my buddies hair back of neck line. We left. Gone. A white dog was there red eyes could have been lighting off car headlights. Have no idea. Half way down that road the car cutt off. Did NOT GET OUT!!!!!!!!! After 5 mins it started we hauled ass. Later I find out about cemetery from cousin who went. He said he climbed on a tombstone in the grave snake was on his leg. Don't know I wasn't there. But strange car cut off around that area. Was crazy. A big rig seemed liked appeared behind us right when we turned off point Rd.Headed BK to Salisbury. The 3rd time I went didn't get out just drove down to see if it was still there. Was about 10 yrs later. Was still there. When I turned around a dog was barking but didn't pay it any attention. Car didn't cut off. Another big rig did follow me and it turned off same road as last time one followed me. But this time it rode my ass till it turned off. Haven't went back till today. Saw church was being restored. Hope souls have rested there by now. I can say it definitely was not a good place to be. I heard preacher there went crazy killed people and family. I don't know for sure what happened there. And don't tend to go back. I didn't drive to end of road. So don't know if house is gone.

Be aware when you go to check it out that last time going there we were stopped by police on our way out because some group that came in the night before (they returned that night about midway through our EVP session) had broken into the church to take photographs. Bobdamned thrillseekers. Make it IMPOSSIBLE for serious and honest researchers...
