Never heard of a blue berry hill, in or around wentworth. There is a berry hill. It is located, on the highway that runs threw old draper, past the miller brewing company, and on the way to danville. You will know when you are there, by the bridge located in front of the property. The bridge is small and probaly less than fifty yards long. It is covered in graffiti , various pentagrams, and satan references. You simply can't miss it. I have heard many a rumor about the berry hill house , bridge, and small devils tramping ground rumored to exist on the property. I myself have visited the property out of curiosity. I did not experience any electro magnetical interferance with my car on the bridge, ( which it is rumored to happen . Such as cars cutting off, engines stalling, radios changing stations on there own. No roiting , or decaying smell from underneath the bridge.) I hiked up to the hill house which is in severe disrepair. Inside the house as you walk in the first thing you will notice is a very large pentacle on the floor, along with several burnt candles and various alcohol containers. I did not go any further into the house. I was by myself , and feared that I may fall threw the floor, or injury myself in someway. Sorry I really dont have any personal paranormal experiences for this site. I would love to revisit this site with others, and stay the night aside from the obvious evidence of witchcraft or devil whorship. So , if any of you want to go , please use caution.

There is a plantation on Berryhill Road, located in Bachelor's Hall Virginia which is not far from the Fire Department on this road. The plantation is NAMED oakridge NOT Berryhill. It was used as a hospital during the Civil War and is said to be haunted by soldiers and slaves that lived there. I have been there several times and had the opportunity to go inside once. The home is occupied by a very nice older couple who bought it for historic purposes and intend on restoring it back to its former beauty. There are slaves houses in the back which I did not enter and there are several graves on the property which you can see from the road.
Because this is a private residence, I would use extreme caution in approaching this home. If you are interested in seeing it, I would most definitely get permission from the owners....everyone enjoys there privacy and they know about the rumors of the house. They told me that they get cars in their driveway almost every night from curiosity seekers. I would guess that it would be very annoying.
Hope this clears up all the confusing post on this awesome plantation.

No. My great uncle was in Patton's Third Army, and was one of the first troops to enter a concentration camp. He wouldn't taslk about it for years, it haunted him so. When he finally told us kids some of what he saw, we all wished he hadn't. So, no, I have no desire to go to one of them. Some are open for visitors though, like Auscwitz...

Me and my friends went there last night and it was creepy. We didnt see anything. Our oldest friend, 23, said a lot about the place. When we were getting close to the bridge he said if I see lights to turn around. The reason being is, satanic rituals are conducted on the bridge and it is graffitied with satanic signs and sayings all around. We went to the plantation and found the home. It look as if it had been updated. My older friend for my cousin and another friend to go up to the door and knock. When you knock your supposed to say "whom may enter." Nothing. However there were signs that said to use the back door so we went around and saw a car and my friend said to get out of here ASAP. The older guy said they might be there doing somthing they arnt supposed to. However I think it may just be a cartaker. We went down the raod about 50 yards and found a ngate and beyond the gate was the cemetery. I stayed with my older friend in my jeep. The other wents into the cemetery and said they really didnt see anything. And the graves are from 1999 to way back into the 19th century and they only went halfway. They said they didnt experience anything. However in the jeep I felt like I was watched and heard the sounds of fire crackling. Then a low moan. My friend prayed and it went away.
After this, all my friend said that they have woke up and seen a black figure with orange eyes. And all you have to do it ask it what it wants. My older friend expects its been following him since he was younger and went there.

Very interesting to find this board! Born and raised in Rockingham County, left for 20 years now back and I believe somewhere in my archive I have pictures of the Berry Hill bridge as it is now. When I was a teenager checking out these places in the late 70's it was a steel girder suspension bridge that was wide enough for one car and had what looked like stop lights mounted on either end to flash if a car was crossing. Mostly they stayed shot out by vandals. It was a very spooky place and there are lots of stories about it and the house. One thing I need to mention is that the bridge and the house as far as I know are not on the same road. You go by the house that is being called the mansion and it is a road on the right that you turn onto that heads back toward NC, in the Ruffin area. One side of the bridge is in NC, the other in VA. I'll try to post more as time allows!
