Hi Crowley, It really depends on what qualities you're looking for. I, for example, care more about the flash and battery life than anything else. Since I have to shrink the pictures down anyway, mega pixels aren't really an issue to me, unless its lower than 2 mega pixels, then you'll notice a quality loss. To see what I mean, take a look at last years Poinsett bridge pictures compared to this years. I actually think they look better, and this is 2.1 mega pixels compared to the 5MP our Kodak has now. If it's going to be used for ghost hunting, you must be sure the flash is at least 3.5 meters. The new one I'm getting is 6.1 (20 feet), but thats an extreme case. Anything less than 3.5 and you'll have trouble picking up anything in the dark at all. Here's a website that lets you find a camera based on certain criteria www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.aspthat should help you at least find the brand you want to start with. I try to stay away from Sony and Canon. They are overly expensive and Sony's are renowned for weak flashes. Lastly, if you have the option to buy from eBay I would definitely use it. The new minolta retails for $499, but I can get it for $200 there. Big savings and all you need is an email account and a money order. Good luck with your browsing and let us know what you come up with. I've got the Fuji E510 a 5.2 Megapixel. The photos are amazing and since the quality is so good you don't get much pixilation when you zoom in on objects. My wife caught a moth in midair from about 8 feet away. You can see the details of the moth!
