Just found the site and thought I would toss up a "hello" post.
About me: My name is Jim i was born and raised an Illinois farm boy, joined the Navy at 17, married my high school best friend at 19. Still happily married going on 14 years now, 2 boys, 2 dogs and a cat that hates me.
I have been an avid photographer since I built my first dark room in my bathroom at about 10. In the military I was a combat/aerial photographer with 42 aerial combat missions under my belt. I have documented every thing from mass graves in Bosnia to anti military protesters on the island of Vieques, and numerous autopsies and crime scenes. For the last 15 or 16 years I have pretty much has a camera attached to me every place I go.
I am currently a government contractor dealing mostly in counter terror work. My work revolves around explosives testing and exercise support, documentation takes the form of every thing from digital photography, high speed video (10,000 frames per second +), thermal and hyper spectral cameras, and even designing and installing giant 64 camera video networks in underground tunnels.
I guess all that was just to establish some of my background in the world of video and cameras. I have been behind a lens forever and very few camera road blocks have caused me a problem.
I should state I am mostly a skeptic, I believe what I can see and prove, and nobody understands more than me that a picture is not always proof.
So why am I here, well to be honest I would love nothing more than to apply my skills and some of my equipment on a hunt, I am curious and after seeing both the horrors and wonders of our planet I would like to perhaps see something that is not so easily explained.
So there we go my hello thread.
